Firstly, it’s a big thank you to those of you who dropped us a line last week with your views on the first Jazz 60.
So, it’s the second week for S&J’s tremendous HD+ podcast – downloadable at a lovely sounding 320 kbps. In show two, it’s a wonderful mixture of both vocal jazz from the likes of Elli Fordyce, something new from Curtis Stigers and San Francisco’s Jamie Davis, plus standards from Hank Mobley with ‘No Room For Squares’ and Charles Kynard with David ‘Fathead’ Newman on the marvelous Piece O’Pisces. There’s also the incredible ‘Jeanine’ from Eddie Jefferson, a Mongo Santamaria tribute from Som Tres, from Japan we’ve Hiroshi Fukumura and not forgetting newer tracks from Kenny Garrett and the quartet that is: Gary Burton, Pat Metheny, Steve Swallow and Antonio Sanchez. It truly is a spanking 60 minutes.
