Decades: 1990’s Vol.3
The third edition of this particular decade sees the usual wonderful cross section of artists you’ve come to expect from S&J. Donald Fagen kicks us off with a track from his lesser know ‘Kamakiriad’ album. Blackstreet, remember them? We’ll they’re next with a track from their debut set, and are followed by United We Funk All Stars with the late Roger Troutman with ‘Nuthin’ But A Party’ – a song covered by George Benson on his latest album. Soul royalty follows with Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan and Smokey Robinson and then it’s Davina with a great cover of Michael’s ‘I Can’t Help It’. Adding that ‘World’ feel to proceedings are Zap Mama, ably followed by Marc Dorsey, the much underated Impromp2, the delightful Carmen Lundy and finishing with a typical early 90’s groove from The Wooten Brothers.
