Classic Jazz-Funk Vol.6
Nine tracks, of which seven are from the 70’s, pretty much shows the strength of the genre during a golden decade for music. Such luminaries as Idris Muhammad, Weldon Irvine, Donald Byrd, Hampton Hawes and Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express are on show here, alongside the collaboration between Freddie Hubbard and Al Jarreau. There’s also the percussive groove of Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers and later offerings from David Benoit and Don Pullen’s African-Brazilian Connection. Classic Jazz-Funk? Ain’t no doubt about it.
