Continuum – A Journey Through Jazz
Episode 51: Jazz-Funk 1976, Part 4
Welcome back to another journey through the Jazz Continuum! This episode is the fourth in a series chronicling the music that got me into Jazz in the first place…continuing with the sounds of Jazz-Funk & Fusion circa 1976.
This leg of the journey focuses primarily on those that created a unique sound and groove using the piano, organ and/or keyboard in the mid-70’s – such as George Duke, Patrice Rushen, Johnny Hammond, Lonnie Liston Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Herbie Hancock, Bob James and Joe Sample.
Several of these picks were chosen after suggestions and reminders that came from you, the listeners, and I’d love to hear more about the music and artist that influenced your own personal journey to jazz. Please send your comments to Scott@SoulandJazz.com or seek out the Jazz Evangelist on Facebook to join the conversation.
Agape ya’ll,
