About

May 18, 2009: SoulandJazz.com launched its unique, legal and commercial free podcasting service. One year on and we’re listened to and read in 109 countries and play host to 207 podcasts featuring music across the spectrum of Soul and Jazz from the last 70 years.

Each month at least 25 new, free to download, CD quality, DJ-led podcasts are posted and we’d like to think there’s something for everyone. Here’s a list of Podcast Categories that are currently in production and in most cases, are ready for you to wrap your ears around today:

All podcasts are available to download in HD+ (320 kbps) with The Hurst Selection additionally providing a LE- (64 kbps) version and are notified directly to those wishing to subscribe via the RSS feed or iTunes. A playlist is also posted along with each podcast and contains full artist details, track and album title, along with the original year of release.

Originally, SoulandJazz.com was conceived purely as a streaming internet radio station. It was only during the research and development that it was felt that both the convenience and portability of podcasting more than outweighed the restraints of our initial idea.

As we move further into 2010, we’ll begin to turn our attention to commercial matters whilst looking to broaden our audience, redevelop the website, incorporate editorial features and engage in wider social-networking. We’re also working on creating content for other world-wide media outlets, developing our own record label and merchandising too. Excitingly, there’s the proposed roll-out of SoulandJazz.tv later in January 2011 to consider, and tucked away for future use: SoulandJazz.fm. We’ve much to do.
