We are pleased to announce the launch of our very exciting and affordable US, UK & European promotional and testing services for both CD and Digital album/EP releases: Be Heard.
In these days of independent artists and labels, our Be Heard service is aimed at Soul and Jazz artists who wish to share their music with a wider audience and help them to understand where their greatest opportunities lie, in both the ability to be heard on radio, on-line, on stage, and reviews within press, publications and blogs.
The pricing structure and details of the various levels of service we offer are listed below. It’s all very clear and that’s intentional. No hidden extras, no surprises. The only criteria we insist upon are that if the music is good enough to be played on SoulandJazz.com then that’s the music that we want to help you take to the world. Here’s the details:
Tastemaker 10
This is our introductory service level where we offer clients a chance to ‘test the water’ and get an early indication regarding their project. We require twelve CD’s along with written details of the project which we will in turn send to our panel. We can’t tell you the names of the tastemakers we engage with, but can assure you that the ten people we use are decision makers that have the ability to play or write about your music immediately.
Cost $265 (Includes $15.00 Postage and Packaging for mailing of CD’s)
Tastemaker 20
As above, but a broader service as we offer access to an extended panel of twenty tastemakers throughout the UK, including the opinions of several European and US counterparts. Twenty-two CD’s are required for this service.
Cost $380 (Includes $30.00 Postage and Packaging for mailing of CD’s)
Full Jazz Campaign
As above, but this campaign also features the servicing of three to five tracks digitally from a project to over sixty of our leading Jazz contacts in the US, UK and Europe. The key to this service level is in both the reporting and safety of your music and our work with Fatdrop will ensure that tracks can only be downloaded after comments/reviews are left. All downloads will be watermarked which greatly reduces the risk of piracy. Brian Hurst will orchestrate this campaign.
Cost $680 (Includes $30.00 Postage and Packaging for mailing of CD’s)
Full Soul Campaign
As above, but our most far-reaching campaign covering the globe. Over four-thousand live contacts are able to give the clearest indication and support available to our clients music and will significantly influence the success of a project. We certainly don’t know of a broader offering that’s available and as with the Full Jazz Campaign, Brian Hurst will orchestrate.
Cost $1,880 (Includes $30.00 Postage and Packaging for mailing of CD’s)
*Postage and Packaging:
$1.05 1st Class Postage
$0.45 Bubble Mailer
Tastemaker 10 (Digital)
This is our digital only introductory service level where we offer clients a chance to ‘test the water’ and get an early indication regarding their project. We require 320 Kbps MP3 files or similar along with written details of the project which we will in turn send to our panel. We can’t tell you the names of the tastemakers we engage with, but can assure you that the ten people we use are decision makers that have the ability to play or write about your music immediately.
Cost $250
Tastemaker 20 (Digital)
As above, but a broader service as we offer access to an extended panel of twenty tastemakers throughout the UK, including the opinions of several European and US counterparts.
Cost $350
All campaigns will last for a month. At the end of this period within Tastemaker 10 and 20 we will prepare a report based on the feedback we receive and advise accordingly on next steps, including suggestions on where and how to both retail and distribute. The Full Soul and Jazz Campaigns will include a comprehensive breakdown of comments, favourite track selection and additional information including reaction from our Programme Director, Presenter, DJ, Journalist and Blogger friends. Whatever level of service you choose, by the end of each promotion period you will be clear in your mind the next steps available to you.
Throughout 2010 we were testing the waters for our effectiveness and the results are now in: we passed! Here’s what some very talented and generous artists have said about us recently:
“Brian Hurst and SoulandJazz.com have been instrumental in the success of the Avery*Sunshine project in both the UK and EU. After listening, Brian was able to immediately identify several key tastemakers to share the project with and was key in getting Avery*Sunshine on the cover of Echoes Magazine as well as making an introduction to Dome Records, who signed her shortly after. Any serious Soul/Jazz artist would be doing themselves a disservice by not consulting with Brian Hurst and SoulandJazz.com.”
Dana Johnson, BigShine Music, LLC
“Brian Hurst and SoulandJazz.com have been the bridge to connect me and my music to the UK and Europe. Thank you Brian for all of the wonderful work you have done and continue to do through SoulandJazz.com. As an independent artist, this opportunity has been priceless and greatly appreciated. You are absolutely masterful in your pursuit of music! Thank you for all you do.”
Kabanya-Chemise
“Brilliantly resourceful and energetic, Brian Hurst has the amazing ability to recognize and spotlight talent. Because of Brian’s expertise, I’m happy to say that my CD Abstract is heard throughout the US and the UK. Brian can make it happen!” Claudia Hayden
“We would like to thank Brian Hurst and SoulandJazz.com for the great work done in promoting our album The Day Is Too Short To Be Selfish in the US, UK and Europe. Without them it would have been impossible to reach so many music lovers, DJ’s, radio stations and journalists. Thank you again for the precious help, professionalism and efficiency!”
Live Tropical Fish
“It’s always nice to be pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of a person or organisation. Brian Hurst and SoulandJazz.com just took my music and ran with it. From the BBC to Jazz FM, on-line editorial and magazine publications, I know who got things moving.”
Gregory Porter, 2010 53rd Annual Grammy Award Nominee

As Rhonda stated in her comment, it was an honor to have my music played on BBC Radio as well as on FM radio in my current hometown of Atlanta, GA. I am truly grateful for being heard as a result of the stellar promotional services that come with being an artist associated with Be Heard (Brian Hurst/ SoulandJazz.com!). I would highly recommend Be Heard to any soul/jazz independent artist.
My heartfelt thanks to Brian Hurst & Jamal Ahmad for introducing my music to the listening public!
Sincerely,
LeNora Jaye
How honored I was to have my music featured on BBC (The Paul Miller’ Show ) courtesy of the one and only Brian Hurst. I can’t say enough about how he’s helped to expose my music to the British listeners and beyond. When Brian believes in a project he goes full force. I appreciate his committment to quality music. ~Rhonda Thomas
