Welcome to a very special 23 track New Year’s Eve’s episode of Aquarium the monthly Live Tropical Fish podcast on SoulandJazz.com. We hope you enjoy the selection and use it for a very intimate and spiritual New Year’s Eve celebration!
This month we have so much music that I can’t write a detailed description of all the tracks but… let’s have a little look at the playlist!
The podcast begins and ends with a fantastic album: Now! by Bobby Hutcherson (1969 on Blue Note), we have two different tracks by Doug Carn, the first from his 1974 album Adam’s Apple (with Ronnie Laws on saxophone) and the second from his first album Infant Eyes (both on Black Jazz Records and both with the beautiful voice of Jean Carn).
We’ll listen, amongst others, to McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Elvin Jones, two tracks from the beautiful 1983 Creative Arts Ensemble album, New Horizons, on the Nimbus label, two tracks by The Awakening, the first from their 1972 album Hear, Sense and Feel and the second from the 1973 album Mirage (both on Black Jazz label), the spiritual Jazz classic Turkish Women At The Bath by Pete La Roca, Phil Ranelin and Wendell Harrison from their 1973 classic album A Message From The Tribe.
