Continuum – A Journey Through Jazz
Episode 10: Summer Groove Part 2
Welcome back fellow travellers as we continue our journey through the Jazz Continuum . . . this leg involves a little cruise around the world for a show entitled “Summer Groove, Part 2″. We start with a beautifully energizing sunrise off the Pacific Coast courtesy of some classic contemporary Jazz from Spyro Gyra . . . then we pop over to Italy to hear some brand new Latin Jazz from Gerardo Frisina . . . and continue in the Afro-Cuban vein with the Groove Collective and Baby Buddah Heads.
We continue southward and groove to some Afro-Brazilian Bossa and Samba blends from the likes of Jazzelicious, Electro Coco and Sergio Mendes (joined by Ledesi to sing some Jobim) . . . then popping over to the Middle East by way of Vienna for some eclectic jazz grooves served up in a unique style by dZihan & Kamien, followed by some Parisian Afro-beat from the Awa Band, and some Lebanese French grooves by Toufic Farroukh with the help of Jeanne Added.
By this time you will probably be exhausted – so, we end our journey listening to the Brecker Brothers bring in the sunset over African Skies. It’s quite a journey – so, enjoy the ride!
