Happy Earth, Wind & Fire Day 2010! This is a holiday I’ve been celebrating every Sept. 21st for the past 30 years. This year commemorates the 40 year career span of one of the greatest R&B/Jazz/Funk/Soul groups of all time – Earth, Wind & Fire. What’s the deal with Sept. 21st you ask? Well…”Do you remember, the 21st night of September?” If not, I can’t help you out there.

Over the years, the music of Earth Wind & Fire has been my constant companion, lifting my spirit, soothing my soul, and putting a skip in my step . . . they are primarily responsible for starting me off on my love affair with Jazz, and it is now my honour to share the experience with you on this journey through the Jazz instrumentals of Earth, Wind & Fire.

This then, is somewhat of a Vol. 2, focusing on the instrumental work that was rarely heard on the radio. Included are some rare gems from the early 1970’s, as well as the dance orientated instrumentals from later that decade, along with a few surprises thrown in as well.
