Episode 31: Fall For Funk & Funk For Fall – Part 2
Well, during last week’s episode I implored you, the listener, to respond and tell me what you wanted to hear . . . and the people have spoken once again. The overwhelming response was “we want the funk” – so, I’ve got to give the people what they want!
This episode is chock full o’ funk featuring multiple levels of groove such as the old school flavor of Parliament, Pleasure, The Gap Band, Tom Browne, Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, and the Brothers Johnson. There is also a heavy dose of acid jazz from the Duboniks, Brand New Heavies, Incognito, and Me’Shell NdegéOcello along with Herbie Hancock . . . as well as jazz funk fusion from 3 different bassists – Joseph Patrick Moore, Adam Nitti, and Derek Frank. There is also something new and surprisingly funky from smooth jazz keyboardist Brian Culbertson joined by Chuck Brown & Sinbad. Whatever your taste, this episode will certainly make you fall for funk!
Of course the people that responded and requested the funky stuff were those that were inclined to listen to an episode entitled “Fall For Funk & Funk For Fall”, so it may not have been a wide sampling of all tastes.
