Episode 44: New Music
So…after exploring the Best of 2010 for five weeks, and last week’s Mardi Gras celebration – I think I’m finally ready to face 2011 and bring you some new music for a change!
This episode features tracks from nine new & eclectic CD’s I’ve received over recent weeks including music from Sasha Masakowski & Musical Playground (from New Orleans), the Italian jazz pianist Dado Moroni, Modern jazz from The Yellowjackets, Disney reinterpretations from trumpeter Roy Hargrove, Big Band Jazz from Broadway star Linda Eder, as well as Atlanta’s own Tempest Little Big Band, the Jazz vocal ensemble Mad Romance, and some soulful grooves from Papik, as well as Simon Grey & Reel People.
To bookend all this new music, there are a couple of older tunes I didn’t get to play during last week’s Mardi Gras episode featuring Afro-Cuban big band funk from Arturo Sandoval, and some classic Latin Funk/Jazz Fusion from Spyro Gyra…it’s not new, but it’s so good I couldn’t let it go to waste. I don’t think you’ll mind.
