An early gift from us to you!

Welcome to the final Extra Inches podcast for 2010. Thirteen tracks are on offer which take a close look at the music that’s hot now and tracks that are warming up nicely for 2011.

Albums that arrived late this year included excellent new offerings from Frank McComb, Deborah Jordan and John Stoddart. There was great Jazz work out of Japan from Native plus from earlier in the year Holland’s Jazzinvaders and also a Danish lady by the name of Annekei whose name is new to me but one that you may well hear much more of. The AnnEmotion track is mesmerising and is produced by Lee Ritenour.

Names to watch our for next year include the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra., LeNora Jaye, Mister Barrington, Somaji and Victoira Urusova. They all have new sets coming at various stages in 2011 and included here is a taster from all of them. After hearing these I think you’ll understand why we remain totally convinced that the forthcoming twelve months will be as wonderful as the last.

Finally, special mention to Tom Glide & The Luv All Stars whose album In The Name Of Luv was just about the strongest album this year; incredible. From it the choice track Love Is Coming Up but fresh for 2011, one of seven remixes about to become available. The version featured here is by Soul in One. You’ll love it.

Happy Holidays.

Enjoy!

New names bring great promise for the future: Milton Suggs, Chris Turner and Gregory Porter are but three who excel here along with more established names like Incognito, Eric Benet – with a corker alongside Ledisi from his new album ‘Lost In Time’ and the return of Freddie Jackson with a cut from his ‘For You’ set. Watch out for the UK’s Soul Talk and JD 73 with killer cuts from their latest projects, plus Israel’s Funk ’n’ Stein’ with a cut from the new Soul Unsigned ‘Funky Mission’ collection – music you most certainly won’t hear at the next Bar Mitzvah you attend. Lest we forget, there’s also Rasmus Faber, Miguel Migs and the incredible work of Mr. Tom Glide and The Luv All Stars from his ‘In the Name Of Luv’ album. 12 killers, no fillers!

Welcome to a special ‘get you up to speed’ number: new music that’s currently getting heads nodding and in general, the two thumbs up seal of approval. We’ve the return of Chaz Jankel with a track from his new set and even after all these years, I can tell you the man’s still got it. Also in the mix is JD 73 with two tracks from one of the hottest albums this year. On the soulful side, Will Downing’s back, and how, with his best album for quite sometime. Likewise Kem, who I think you’re either feeling or not. The track I’ve chosen features Jill Scott and is the choice track from the very solid CD: Intimacy. Vying for best album of 2010 is Tom Glide & The Luv All Stars and the killer track from In The Name Of Luv sits proudly within the show. New names to these ears include Trina Sharifa Cuff and Rachel Walker, and both have fine tracks available currently. Something a little different? Try the Bahama Soul Club, Randy Skinner and a wonderful track from the new Marcus Valle project. That leaves me just to remind you that Julie Dexter’s back with something smokin’ hot from the ATL, as is Bajka with her remix project and also the Uk’s very own Izzi Dunn with the monstrous instrumental track Gangstar Bitch – Killer!
It only seems right that the first podcast recorded for 2010 features some exciting new music that’s available now, or very soon will be. From the tail-end of last year we have music from Marcell & The Truth, Angela Johnson, Reel People feat. Tony Momrelle, Marc Staggers, Osunlade, Alex Malheiros & Banda Utopia and a couple of tunes that are just coming into view: Papik with their fabulous set ‘Rhythm Of Life’ and Melissa Walker with the incredible ‘Invitation’ track from her ‘In The Middle Of It All’ set. We also have Dr. Rubberfunk with Roachford and music to look forward to from Terje Lie and William Green & Magic Dream. Special mention must also go to Italy’s Live Tropical Fish who have a new set arriving late in February. The album ‘The Day Is Too Short To Be Selfish’ is truly fabulous and we have two tracks on offer here, featuring both Deborah Jordan and the remarkable ‘Rubber Soul’ featuring Omar – Killer!

<itunes:summary>It only seems right that the first podcast recorded for 2010 features some exciting new music that's available now, or very soon will be. From the tail-end of last year we have music from Marcell & The Truth, Angela Johnson, Reel People feat. Tony Momrelle, Marc Staggers, Osunlade, Alex Malheiros & Banda Utopia and a couple of tunes that are just coming into view: Papik with their fabulous set 'Rhythm Of Life' and Melissa Walker with the incredible 'Invitation' track from her 'In The Middle Of It All' set. We also have Dr. Rubberfunk with Roachford and music to look forward to from Terje Lie and William Green & Magic Dream. Special mention must also go to Italy's Live Tropical Fish who have a new set arriving late in February. The album 'The Day Is Too Short To Be Selfish' is truly fabulous and we have two tracks on offer here, featuring both Deborah Jordan and the remarkable 'Rubber Soul' featuring Omar – Killer!</itunes:summary>
