The second of the series in this era where the BPM’s were occasionally faster but the grooves no less serious. In this particular case Crown Heights Affair, Harvey Mason and Leon Ware blaze a trail but the funk is not far behind with Herbie Hancock, L.T.D. and Con Funk Shun. Classic soul comes from Leroy Hutson, Love Unlimited, Deniece Williams and Earth, Wind & Fire plus there’s some quality Vincent Montana type grooves from Goody Goody and Cognac. Expect volumes 3,4,5… over the coming months.
