Swing! The Soulful Side Of Jazz
A show that’s been in the offing since day one, what a treat to hear such a combination of music. From the early 1960’s through to the present day, this is what we mean when we say “Fifty years in the making…” Sixteen tracks which fuse together elements of jazz together with a soulful delivery, classics come from Ella Fitzgerald live in 1977, Bobby Hebb’s Sunny, Tamba Trio’s take on Mas Que Nada and Frank Sinatra teaming up with Antonio Carlos Jobim for Aqua de Beber. Mel Torme is represented by both Dee Dee Sharp and Peter Grant and Jamie Davis entertains us twice with his amazing delivery and range. There’s classics from Animal Nightlife, The O’Jays, Spinners, and Lou Rawls, plus the late, great, Carl Anderson. Finally there’s the ladies: Carmen McCrae, Tania Maria and Nancy Wilson. Volume 2? We’re on it already!
