Extra Inches: The Music of Al Jarreau
17th September 2010
Covering music from Mr. Jarreau’s debut in 1975 through to his work with George Benson in 2006, eleven tracks are presented here from nine different albums and give a wonderful overview of this very talented singer. A man who seems as comfortable with Soul as does with Jazz, his unique improvisational skills are clearly evident from the outset in the mid-seventies. On a personal note, watch out especially for a couple of tracks that were produced for him by Nile Rodgers of Chic fame in 1986; utterly fabulous. It’s certainly all good and there will undoubtedly be another volume to come in this series. [BH]
