Extra Inches – The Music of Rahsaan Patterson
I’ve been a fan of Rahsaan Patterson since, well, the first time I got to hear him back in 1994 when he guested with Colour Club. His solo career as a singer really sparked to life a few years later and the rest they say, is history. To these ears then he’s been making great music for seventeen years and in ‘Love In Stereo’ one of my top ten albums ever – ‘It Ain’t Love’? I rest my case. On offer here are thirteen tracks from nine different albums and not all solo projects either. Collobarations with Mikelyn Roderick and Steve Harvey show his ease at working with like-minded people. The problem here was what made the cut first time round. Not easy. He’s incredibly talented, a smashing fella and a man I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many times. I look forward to the next time. For the moment though, I hope you like the first pick. [BH]
