It’s a story of great endurance if you think about it. Thirty-eight years and counting is the time covered by the successful careers of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen; independently, and together as Steely Dan.
These two gentlemen have provided us with a catalogue of music which has an enduring appeal and thankfully the ability to defy the notion of both stereotype and the sad attitudes of bigots. From Steely Dan’s debut in 1972 through to Donald Fagen’s last solo project back in 2006, twelve tracks are on offer here which prove beyond all doubt, both the durability and versatility of Messrs. Becker and Fagen. The proof is in the listening.
