Extra Inches: The Sound of Atlanta
Now this is tricky. How do you go about not offending at least several dozen people by not including them in Volume One of this new series? Such is the multitude of talent in Atlanta, Georgia, it really is impossible, so apologies to those that didn’t make the cut first time round.
Fifteen tracks from fifteen artists. From the Soul of Sirius B to the fusion of Brien Andrews to the world-beating talent of Avery*Sunshine; it’s all here. From 1998 to 2011 the artists included represent the ATL in no uncertain manner and highlight various genres along the way. You’ll find the playlist below and in it names such as Donnie – one of the greatest Soul singers of the last twelve years and new cats like Alex Lattimore – a star in the making, as is Kabanya Chemise, William Green, Heston and Brandhi Irvon. There’s a nod to the past with Jiva, Seek and Sirius B and established names like India Arie, Rhonda Thomas and Anthony David ain’t messin’ either.
We’ll be back with more shortly. Enjoy!
