Well, it’s been a long time coming but I want to personally welcome you to the inaugural session of The S.O.U.L. of Jazz on soulandjazz.com with yours truly, Jamal Ahmad. This first show is a great example of what you can expect from me as I kick things off with a brand new slice of Jazz-Funk from trumpeter Maurice Brown’s latest release The Cycle of Love. Hailing from Germany, we float into contemporary soul territory next with a new one from the Rejazz crew and then some unreleased soul from Atlanta’s Emdee Brown. For my Afrobeat lovers, I’ve got something really nice in the mix from Atlanta’s own Mausiki Scales & The Common Ground Collective featuring Julie Dexter and also white label sounds from The Liberators out of Australia.
