Welcome to the dog days of summer! August’s edition of Downbeat starts off with the sweet vocals of Chelsea Baratz and grooves smoothly from that moment on. There’s Russell Gunn, Jeff Bradshaw, and Atlantan, Rod Young plus Donnie and Anthony David, who bring a soulful touch to the two-hours. Further down the line we serve music from John Beasley and there’s a quick nod to ‘those who have walked before us’ with a tune from Quincy Jones. Towards the tail end of proceedings vocal harmonies are served by Bobby McFerrin from the 2010 release, VOCAbuLaries.
