Jazz 60 (Remixed)
7th April 2010
This second edition of Jazz 60 (Remixed) finds yours truly fresh off a solo road trip between Atlanta and NYC…and I must say it was truly refreshing! I caught some live jazz shows in Philly and NYC that were unforgettable and it truly helped me get back into the swing of things musically and spiritually.
With these thoughts in mind, I decided to start this show with John Coltrane’s classic piece A Love Supreme. You simply can’t go wrong with this tune (Not to mention I love the fact that it was recorded in Long Island, New York – where I grew up!). We’ve got a nice blend on offer featuring new cats and kittens on the jazz scene such as New York’s own Myron Walden and a young lady that has already made her mark in the world of jazz: Esperanza Spalding! You’ll also hear from some of jazz’s finest including: Chico Hamilton, Freddie Hubbard, Doug & Jean Carn, Nina Simone and more!
One of the things I love about jazz music is how you can blend the classics with the current tunes ever so smoothly and I hope you find that right here on this edition of Jazz 60 (Remixed).
As always, I look forward to hearing from my musical family. Please send any requests, comments and feedback to: nicole@soulandjazz.com
