On The Jazz 60 this week, it’s a who’s who of past and present jazz artists. As we’re sure you now know, it’s a downloadable HD+ podcast at a lovely sounding 320 kbps, giving clarity to music that deserves no less.
A ten song selection kicks off with a great track from one of the new cats, Corey Wilkes, from his recent set ‘Drop It’. It’s followed by the consistently exceptional talent that is Brian Bromberg, with new music then coming from the evergreen Spyro Gyra, with a track from their best album for years: ’Down The Wire’. Moving somewhat straight ahead is Scotty Barnhart, Red Holloway and classics from Shirley Scott with Stanley Turrentine and John Coltrane. There’s another track from the excellent, forthcoming set from The Gerald Wilson Orchestra ‘Detroit’, and then finishing off with some early 70’s magic from Sonny Stitt and Boogaloo Joe Jones.
