Welcome to the sophomore mix of The S.O.U.L. of Jazz. Before we get going I’d personally like to thank all of you who downloaded my debut podcast. Some say it’s never as good as the first time, but I think this second installment will prove these naysayers wrong!
This particular set moves through various sonic territories that fall under the broad banner of soul and jazz and getting us going is some classic, neck-snapping jazz-funk from The Keyboard Circle. There’s some sun-drenched southern soul provided by Atlanta’s Drea Rhenee and Kabanya Chemise and classic jazz-dance from Norman Connor’s Slewfoot album. Exclusives from The Suite for Ma Dukes Orchestra featuring Dwele, the legendary Jocelyn Brown and Atlanta’s Soul of Earth featuring Omar, will make you the envy of all your friends. We end things off with some boogaloo soul from congolero, Mongo Santamaria.
