The Hurst Selection arrives back in the UK this week with a 25 track selection that undoubtedly will float your boat. From the outset we have Impromp2, John Beasley and Club Des Belugas featuring Brenda Boykin with a track from their ‘Zoo Zizaro’ set.
4 from this week comes from a man who truly knows how to blow. We are of course talking about Tom Browne – yes, he of Funkin’ for Jamaica fame. Just one of the tracks on full view here, coming from his 1979 released album ‘Love Approach’. We also feature sterling efforts from the albums ‘Rockin’ Radio’, ‘Yours Truly’ and his debut set ‘Browne Sugar’. One of our musical heroes for sure – time for something new though maybe?
Dr. Rubberfunk has a new CD set to drop early next year as indeed does Terje Lie. We preview tracks from both sets here – you won’t be disappointed. A new name to us is Kabanya-Chemise who has a rather splendid soul cut available just about now on CD Baby. We give the UK a first chance to hear ‘Sky Blue’. Trust us, the girl can sing! A little Motown follows with classics from The Supremes & The Four Tops and Franki Valli & The Four Seasons. More 2009 comes from Trus’me featuring Amp Fiddler, William Green & Magic Dream, Tracy Hamlin, N’Dambi, Marcell & The Truth and finally Ellis Phelps.
We finish in classic mode with tracks coming from Trussel, New Jersey Connection, Mint Condition, Daryl Hall, Frank McComb, Brenda Russell and our great friend, Rahsaan Patterson.
