The Hurst Selection is a twenty-three track affair this week and is happy to be dominated by a Texan beauty: N’dambi. For over ten years this lady has been building a loyal following and with each album release, the hope amongst her fans that her time was coming. Well, we’re pleased to report that time is now and that one of the soul albums of the year is being unleashed in the USA on the 6th October. Produced by Leon Sylvers III, ‘Pink Elephant’ is released on Stax Records, giving us at last this year, a soul album that delivers on all fronts: excellent lyrics, great production and a songstress at the top of her game. We feature three tracks from the CD and also as part of 4 from, combine an additional three track retrospective of her career to date. The album certainly has us in a good mood to start the week.

Lest we forget, other fabulous music on the show comes from Ledisi, Teena Marie, and another track from the Maze tribute album featuring here, Musiq Soulchild. Other notable contributions come from The Uptown Funk Empire, Ellis Phelps featuring William Swann and soul classics from The Limit, By All Means and one of the soul greats, Leon Ware.

On The Jazzier Side of Life, tracks are provided by NZ’s Nathan Haines, Soul Sugar, Timo Lassy with José James, S-Tone Inc and The Milano Jazz Dance Combo. There’s also four jazz-funk classics from Johnny Hammond, Dr. Donald Byrd, Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers that need no introduction from us whatsoever. Enjoy!
