The Jazz 60 – 13th November 2009
You can never be quite sure what’s coming your way each week on The Jazz 60 and to be fair, we don’t know either. What we can say though is that variety plays a key part in our programming and this week brings no exception. John Beasley has a great new album out called Positootly! and two tracks from that are to be found here. New tracks also come from Angela Hagenbach, Greta Matassa and the Resonance Big Band, with the latter paying and playing tribute to Oscar Peterson. We look back with tracks from Joe McBride, Jamie Davis, Sophie Milman and Prince Sampson and also to a great re-issue on Schema Records of Sahib Shihab’s ‘Please Don’t Leave Me’ from his ‘Summer Dawn’ album in 1964. We also look ahead into 2010 and the February release of Terje Lie’s ‘Urban Vacation’ CD; we can’t wait.
