Welcome back to another journey through the Jazz Continuum – this week, it’s too hot to travel, so let’s just kick back with some Summer Soul . . . shall we?
We’ll start with some soul drenched Jazz as Chaka Khan sings Summertime while Joe Henderson plays along, and we’ll go Flying Easy on a summer breeze with Donny Hathaway, while Koop tells us about the Summer Sun shining over Big Bang’s Summer Fields during 7 Days in Sunny June spent with Jamiroquai.
Stevie Wonder gives us the Summer Soft side of the season, while Sly sings about the Hot Fun that can be had with his Family Stone during the time that Michael Henderson refers to as In The Summertime. Pretty much everybody knows that Roy Ayers loves the sunshine, heck Everybody Loves The Sunshine – whereas some prefer a Summer Breeze with the girl that should have won American Idol – Crystal Bowersox.
One of the reasons it’s so hot is because Avery Sunshine just released a New CD on Monday, and she’s Got Sunshine – Jill Scott thinks it’s downright Golden, and Corinne Bailey Rae and Marcus Miller just want to be Free.
