New music a plenty on this week's show. Really impressed with the epic new LP's from Soweto Kinch, Samora Pinderhughes and Josef Leimberg. The career defining 'Nonagram' is the offering from UK saxophonist Soweto Kinch and is breathtaking in its scope. Saxophonist Josef Leimberg's 'Astral Progression' is another masterpiece from the West Coast camp that brought us Kamasi, Terrace, Miles et al. As for the politically charged six track opus from Samora Pinderhughes - well that's on another level. Relevant for the times and powerful in it's delivery. This is an epic work rooted in black consciousness that aptly reflects the serious problems that African-Americans are currently facing in the US.
We feature the new LP's from the legendary Azymuth, gifted and talented new kid on the block Mahalia, the soulful Myles Sanko, Revive Musics Christie Dashiell, singer Fini Bearman and one of my favourite US singers, the awesome Lindsey Webster.
