It's not very often that you come across a fellow human being who quite genuinely epitomises all that's good about the human spirit and who also possesses a voice sent from the heavens. Gregory Porter is one such person and I was fortunate enough to have spent some time with him to record an interview. This humble and gifted soul waxed lyrical about his family, his music and his ethos for life. I have devoted one hour of the show to this amazing experience.
Other highlights include Resolution 88, who for me are the tightest band on the planet at the moment, Jason Rebello's off the hook LP, the talented Ellene Masri, rhodes laden Pat Van Dyke, the gifted Peter Edwards Trio and the emotionally charged and near perfect new LP from ex-Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers man Jean Toussaint. This is all wrapped up with vintage classics from Atlanta's favourite son, Curtis Mayfield, trumpet god Donald Byrd and the brazilian don Marcos Valle.
